Yes. Every new client begins with a 60-minute Initial Consultation. During this session, we'll discuss your goals, evaluate your dog, and recommend the training program that best fits your needs.

The consultation is $30. If you enroll in a training package within 7 days, the consultation fee will be credited toward your package.

All private training lessons are approximately 60 minutes.

Training sessions are held in your home, in public settings, or at another agreed-upon location depending on your training goals and the stage of your dog's program.

We begin by teaching new behaviors using positive reinforcement, including food, praise, and play. As training progresses, methods and equipment are selected based on each individual dog's needs, learning style, and goals. Every recommendation is discussed with you before implementation.

No. Steady Strides specializes in private, one-on-one training because lasting results come from teaching both the dog and the handler.

Please bring your dog on a standard leash with a flat collar or harness unless instructed otherwise. We also recommend bringing high-value treats and any equipment you currently use with your dog.

We kindly request at least 24 hours' notice to cancel or reschedule an appointment. Late cancellations may be subject to the cancellation policy outlined in your Client Agreement.

Yes. Training packages expire 2 months from the date of purchase unless otherwise agreed upon.

No. Every dog learns differently, and success depends on factors such as consistency, practice, the dog's temperament, and the handler's participation. We are committed to providing individualized training and support, but specific results cannot be guaranteed.

No. While many dogs can learn advanced skills, not every dog has the temperament, health, or confidence required for service work. Dogs are continually evaluated throughout the program to ensure service work is in their best interest.

No. In the United States, there is no federally recognized certification or registration required for service dogs. Steady Strides Canine Training does not certify or register service dogs.

No. Participation in the Service Dog Program does not guarantee that a dog will successfully become a service dog. Each dog's progress and suitability are evaluated individually throughout training.

If your dog is determined to be unsuitable for service work, we'll discuss the reasons with you and recommend the best path forward. This may include transitioning into another Steady Strides training program. Refunds are not guaranteed, though any remaining program value may be applied toward another eligible training program at the trainer's discretion.
